FARGO, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota State University remains atop the Football Championship Subdivision coaches' poll this week, after a 22-7 weekend win over Colorado State, a Football Bowl Subdivision team.

But the defending FCS champion Bison, who are off this week, got bad news Monday when an MRI confirmed that starting safety Colten Heagle suffered a torn knee ligament on Saturday. He is out for the season.

NDSU starting linebacker Travis Beck, named the most valuable player in last season's FCS title game, was due in court Tuesday to plead guilty to an alcohol offense over the summer.

The University of North Dakota received votes in this week's FCS poll after a 45-37 win over Portland State on Saturday but did not crack the Top 25.
