MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Second seed Novak Djokovic stayed on track for a fourth consecutive Australian Open singles title with a 6-0, 6-4, 6-4 win over Leonardo Mayer of Argentina. Djokovic is attempting to win a fifth Australian title, the first man to achieve that feat since the Open Era began in 1968.

Third-seeded David Ferrer dropped the first three games of his second-round match before beating Adrian Mannarino 7-6, 5-7, 6-0, 6-3.

Seventh seed Tomas Berdych, No. 8 Stanislas Wawrinka and No. 9 Richard Gasquet also advanced. Unseeded American Sam Querrey also advanced, beating No. 23 Ernests Gulbis.

Women's top seed Serena Williams moved into the third round by cruising to an easy 6-1, 6-2 rout of Vesna Dolonc. Williams improved her record to 60-8 at Melbourne Park, equaling Margaret Court's 60 match wins in the Open era at the Australian championship

Women's fourth seed Li Na won her second-round match, braving 102-degree temperatures to earn a 6-love, 7-6 win over teenager Belinda Bencic. No. 9 Angelique Kerber also advanced.
