Caleb Thielbar Throws Batting Practice to Twins Stars
Former South Dakota State left hander Caleb Thielbar is on the Minnesota Twins 40 man roster as Spring Training begins.
This morning, Thielbar was getting a taste of life as a big league pitcher. That's former American League MVP Justin Morneau in the batter's box in Fort Myers, Florida, with another former MVP, Joe Mauer, waiting to take his cuts.
Thielbar earned a spot in camp with a standout 2012 season. In three stops in the Twins minor league system last year, he posted a 6-2 record with a 2.43 earned run average. In 77 2/3 innings, he struck out 74 and walked 21.
The Twins open their spring training schedule Saturday against the Orioles. Opening day of the regular season is April 1st with the Tigers at Target Field.
