UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - The Connecticut Sun have fired coach Mike Thibault, who led the team to eight playoff appearances, but no WNBA championships in his 10 seasons.

Thibault has been the Sun's only head coach, hired when the team relocated from Orlando before the 2003 season.

He led the Sun to WNBA Finals in 2004 and 2005, and five Eastern Conference Finals.

The Sun finished the 2012 season as the top seed in the East with a 25-9 record before losing to eventual WBNA champion Indiana in three games in the conference finals.

General Manager Chris Sienko said he felt it was time for "a new voice and new direction" for the team.
