The Bills Giving Fans A Shot To Buy A Piece Of History
The last season at Highmark Stadium is starting this weekend, but what will happen when it's all over?
Thousands of fans will be flocking to Orchard Park to watch the Bills play this weekend, just as they have for decades. Many of those fans have been parking in the same parking spot. They've been entering at the same gate and buying hot dogs and beers from the same stand. Then, just before kickoff, they settle into the same seat that they've been in forever. It's almost like home, in a sense.
You've been paying to use that seat for years, but technically, it's still not yours. It's part of the stadium. But they're trying to work it out so that it could be yours forever.
The Bills are trying to make it so you can purchase your seat
What will happen when the Bills have played their last play at Highmark Stadium? Will it all just go in the dumpster? It seems like those things should be preserved for teh fans. When asked about what would happen with seats and memorabilia throughout the stadium, here's what they had to say:
Most people think they shouldn't have to buy the seats
Most of the comments on that post seem to portray the feeling that many of those people have been supporting their team for years and shouldn't have to pay to keep the seat. With the prices that new season ticket holders are having to pay to sit in the new stadium, it kind of feels like they're right. In that situation, though, who would get to just take their seat? Is there a number of years that would make it right? Would it work for anyone who was a season ticket holder last year? How about people like me who were season ticket holders for multiple years but then gave them up? We helped to support that team too.
DON'T just take what you want
They are saying, though, that you shouldn't just start to take things throughout the season to have your own souvenir. They still have a whole season to play there. They hope to have a plan in place on how you can get your own part of the old stadium at the end of the year.
