‘City Of Losers’ Comment About Buffalo Will Make You Furious
It's not that he said it. It's that he said it again after the way he was treated the first time.
You can't stop everyone from being ignorant. Some people will continue no matter how hard you try.
This story started back in 2020 when a radio personality went on the air and called the entire city of Buffalo a "city of losers." His name was Jerry Coleman. His comments came after 26 Shirts founder Del Reid was advocating for Sean McDermott in a conversation about Coach Of The Year on Twitter.
"They [Buffalo] have two major sports teams just like Baltimore except the big difference is besides they have better chicken wings is they're a city of losers. They've won nothing," said Coleman.
But Del Reid didn't snap back at him. Instead, he asked people to pour their energy into doing something that would make a difference. He asked people to make donations to a charity that meant something to him.
Bills Mafia and the city of Buffalo stepped up. They donated over $7000 to the Alzheimer's Association in his name. He was choked up on the air as he tried to thank the people who donated.
But this week, it appears it's still just a joke to him.
During a press conference with head coach John Harbaugh, after asking a question someone pointed out to the coach that "Bills Mafia doesn't like Jerry." He asked if Jerry wanted to share why we didn't like him and Jerry responded indignantly that he had called us a city of losers. A comment that drew snickers throughout the room.
He could have stopped there but instead, he continued, "I mean, I was just stating the facts."
It's amazing that someone could have something happen to them, like what happened to Mr. Coleman, and still make comments about a city like that. How he could not make a full 180-degree turn from his statements of the past is beyond me.
Today we find out that some of the Ravens fans are already doing their best to distance themselves from him and it appears pretty easy to understand why.
The city of Buffalo doesn't need another reason to want to win it all. We have plenty.
