
Snow and Cold On The Way With A Winter Weather Advisory In Effect
We're developing a bad habit in the Sioux Empire. Again this weekend, we will be dealing with some winter weather. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Parts of South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska, including Sioux Falls, in effect from midnight tonight through noon Saturday.
"Snow will move from northwest to southeast through the region beginning late this afternoon through Saturday. Snow coverage will increase after midnight and reach its peak from just before daybreak into the mid morning. Snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour are possible. Totals should range between 2-4 inches with isolated pockets of 5+ inches possible. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place Saturday from 12 AM until 12 PM. Snow tapers off in the afternoon and should be clear of the region by Saturday evening." - NWS

And a Cold Weather Advisory will be in effect from 6:00 PM Saturday until 10:00 AM Sunday. Temptures wil be in the single digits Saturday and drop below zero Saturday night.
"The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes...Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves." - NWS
The National Weather Service says, "Winter Weather Advisories are issued when snow, blowing snow, ice, sleet, or a combination of these wintry elements is expected but conditions should not be hazardous enough to meet warning criteria. Be prepared for winter driving conditions and possible travel difficulties."
