But this event is about more than just a beautiful display. A free-will donation will be collected during the show to support Emily's Hope, a local nonprofit working to end the stigma around substance use disorder, provide education, and support recovery efforts.

Mike Denning has supported Emily’s Hope since 2019, raising funds not only through this event but also during Fourth of July sales, where customers receive discounts in exchange for donations.

Emily's Hope offers a K–12 substance use prevention curriculum used across the country, the Grieving Out Loud podcast, and on-the-ground initiatives such as naloxone distribution, a Post-Overdose Response Team, and a Youth Prevention Coalition in South Dakota. The organization also provides treatment scholarships to help individuals access care.

Every dollar donated during the fireworks show goes directly to Emily’s Hope. So mark your calendars and help light up the night—because every firework brings hope a little closer.

From Blockbusters to Hidden Gems: 35 Movies That Take Place in South Dakota

When it comes to South Dakota and Hollywood, we've seen our fair share of films that have used our state as the backdrop for a number of productions over the years. They may not have always filmed here, but movie folk love to set stories here.

We're all familiar with the blockbusters like 1990's Dances With Wolves, 1959's North By Northwest, and more recently, 2007's National Treasure: Book of Secrets. But our state's life on the big screen goes back nearly 100 years.

According to IMDb, it all started with Courtin' Wildcats, a 1929 film which, like so many of the 29 films on this list, is a Western set in the time before South Dakota became a state in 1889.
