You would think that the Most Dangerous City in Minnesota would be one of the largest cities in the state. But that's not the case.
There are a lot of beautiful places in Minnesota. But there is also a lot of crime in the Land of 10,000 lakes.
The folks at Travel Safe Abroad crunched the numbers and came up with the "10 Most Dangerous Cities In Minnesota".
10-Brooklyn Park: Population 79,946. The rate of crime is 72 per every 1,000 residents.
9-Virginia: Population 8,259. The chances of being a victim of violent crime in Virginia are 1 in 181. There were a total of 609 crimes last year.
8-Mankato: Population 44,488. Last year there were a total of 3,306 crimes.
7-St. Cloud: Population 68, 756. The city’s crime rate is 86 per 1,000 people. Last year the number of violent crimes totaled 1,235 making that rate 179 per 1,000 people.
6-St. Paul: Population 309,957. Last year there were a total of 27,665 crimes committed. The overall crime rate in the city is 89 per 1,000 people.
5-Minneapolis: Population 438,463. Last year there were a total of 40,375 crimes. 92 offenses per 1,000 residents.
4-Roseville: Population 35,874. It also has 111 crimes per 1,000 people. Last year there were a total of 4,196 crimes.
3-Brainerd: Population 14,425. The rate of crime in Brainerd is 128 per 1,000 people. Last year there were a total of 1,724 crimes.
2-Waite Park: Population 7,839. The rate of crime in Waite Park is 164 per 1,000 people. The total number of crimes reported was 1,287.
1-Bemidji: Population: 15,570. There are 167 criminal offenses for every 1,000 people in Bemidji. It’s now the most dangerous city in Minnesota. Last year there was a total of 2,613 crimes.
