Siouxpercon Is Celebrating Its 10th Anniversary!

When Siouxpercon began 10 years ago, it was hard for the organizers to imagine what it would become today.

Siouxpercon sees itself as an educational event with the mission of promoting literacy, STEAM education, and learning important life skills, all included in a fun and friendly environment.

To that end, they've been holding this family-friendly fun convention for people of all fandoms, holding workshops, seminars, exhibitions, and entertainment events.

Dakota News Now is reporting that this entirely volunteer-run event is coming up on September 19 through 21 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. It will be a whirlwind of fun activities.

The Schedule of Activities Is Amazing!

There will be a special Kid Zone and a Family Fun Day (Sunday, September 21), a Cosplay Contest, video game tournaments, and tabletop and RPG (role-playing games) gaming.

There will also be 150 vendors, Siouxpermania Wrestling (September 19), and exclusive After Dark entertainment for adults, and much more.

As far as special guests go, it's a long list of 50 comic creators, voice actors, and media stars, including:

  • Pixar voice actor and Cheers! fan-favorite, John Ratzenberger
  • Teen Titans voice actor and Walking Dead star, Khary Payton
  • Walking Dead actor, Cooper Andrews
  • Comic Legend, Gail Simone
  • Star Wars Pupetteers David Barclay (Yoda), TaMara Carlson Woodard, and Dawn Dininger (Grogu).

Siouxpercon fans can also geek out over the Chevy Impala from Supernatural, Doctor Who's Tardis, and the Jeep from Jurassic Park. You'll also get to hang out with the Ghostbusters of South Dakota and the Sioux Empire, enjoy the amazing magic of Travis Nye, visit with Wilbur the Coyote, and so much more!

Tickets are available online now, which is your best bet as prices will rise the week of the convention.

What Else You Need to Know About Siouxpercon

Siouxpercon has donated over $50,000 to three other non-profits over its 10 years. Make-A-Wish South Dakota/Montana, Reach Literacy, and the JY6 Foundation have all benefited from this extraordinary event.

There will also be a number of special events outside of Siouxpercon's regular hours. like the SiouxperMania Wrestling, Friday night, September 19, an 18-and-over burlesque show on Saturday night, September 20.

A very special Q&A with John Ratzenberger is being sponsored by Williquors and the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. It is a free event and will happen at the Alliance on Thursday, September 18, from 6 to 7 PM.
