This holiday season, several pet rescue organizations in Sioux Falls are asking for donations to help animals find their forever homes. Dakota News Now is reporting that many rescues are struggling with the costs of caring for homeless pets, and they need community support.

Two special giving trees have been set up at Best Care Pet Hospital and Pet Supplies Plus. People can drop off supplies or donate money, then hang an ornament on the tree to show their support. According to Debbi Leuning, who works at Best Care Pet Hospital, donations have ranged from $10 to $500 this year.

The need is urgent. Rescue Network alone has taken in about 100 animals over just two weekends, adding to the hundreds already in their care. Pet Supplies Plus helps by displaying adoptable cats in special cubbies where shoppers can meet them.

"For us to be successful, we have to have the three Fs of rescue, which are fosters, funds, and forever homes," explained Mandi Haase from B-Squad Dog Rescue. Without all three, rescues can't save as many animals.

B-Squad is also running a fundraiser at Holiday Inn City Centre, where Verde Lounge sales will support the rescue throughout December.

Best Care Pet Hospital accepts donations for 605 Boxer Rescue, B-Squad Rescue, and Sioux Empire TNR Coalition. Pet Supplies Plus collects for Almost Home Canine Rescue and Rescue Network. All Cats Rescue has an Amazon wishlist on Facebook.

This holiday season, consider helping these organizations give homeless animals a second chance at happiness.
