Dog Food Sold in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota Recalled
One pet food company is pulling three of its products nationwide, including from stores in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota, because of a potentially exposure to a pair of deadly bacteria.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says Fleetwood, Pennsylvania-based Answers Pet Food is recalling the trio if dog foods 'out of an abundance of caution', after samples tested positive for salmonella and listeria.
The impacted products are:
- ANSWERS Pet Food Straight Beef Formula for Dogs - 4-pound (half gallon) carton #856554002072 with a Best Used by Date: January 31, 2026
- ANSWERS Pet Food Detailed Beef Formula for Dogs - 4-pound (half gallon) carton #856554002102 with a Best Used by Date: May 6, 2026
- ANSWERS Pet Food Straight Chicken Formula for Dogs - 4-pound (half gallon) carton #856554002065 with a Best Used by Date: January 2, 2026 and March 11, 2026
As of now, no illnesses have been reported.
The recalled items were sold nationwide, including four South Dakota locations, 17 Iowa locations, and 24 Minnesota locations.
The FDA recommends any product from the listed lots should be thrown out or destroyed in a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access it. Areas that may have come in contact with any contaminated food should also be sanitized.
