Minnesota is one signature away from legalizing adult-use cannabis in the state.

After the State Senate narrowly passed a bill (34-32) over the weekend allowing residents to legally possess, use and grow marijuana at home, it now heads to Governor Tim Walz’s desk.

The Governor has already gone on record saying he will sign the bill. The new law would go into effect on August 1.

In anticipation, the state has already launched its Office of Cannabis Management website.

The new law limits possession of cannabis flowers to two pounds at home and two ounces in public.

The bill also establishes a 10 percent tax on cannabis products. Retail sales probably won’t happen until at least 2024.

Minnesota would become the 23rd state to legalize cannabis use for adults.
