Drivers in Sioux Falls will have to deal with a last-minute detour.

Friday (January 9) at 9:30 AM, the South Dakota Department of Transportation says  South Cliff Avenue at the Interstate 229 interchange will be temporarily closed to allow contractors to remove a temporary bridge over Cliff Avenue.

Flaggers will be present to direct southbound and northbound Cliff Avenue traffic onto the I-229 northbound and southbound on- and off-ramps.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed in one hour. During the closure, drivers should use Exit 3 (Minnesota Avenue) and Exit 5 (East 26th Street) as detour routes.

The work is part of a $48 million project that is scheduled to be completed in June 2027.
