Two nights after South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was in the national spotlight during her prime time speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, she was given a shout out on Fox News, but not for the reason she would have hoped.

During the network's Wednesday (July 17) coverage of the convention, Fox News reporter Johnny Belisario was conducting interviews in the delegate area when he came across an English Labrador retriever named Lambeau in the crowd.

Belisario referred to Lambeau as the 'first dog delegate' and proceeded to attempt to 'interview' the pooch, which went about as well as you might expect.

When it was obvious that Lambeau was a bit camera shy, Belisario attempted to lighten the mood by quipping:

'No, Kristi Noem was the other night so I think you should be good.'

The comment is in reference to a story from Governor Noem's book, No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward, which was released in May.

In the excerpt, Noem wrote about shooting and killing a 14-month-old wirehaired pointer named Cricket.

The passage ignited an intense reaction from people on both sides of the political spectrum and is thought by some to be the reason why she was not picked as former President Donald Trump's running mate in the 2024 election, despite being one of the frontrunners.
