TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Following a strong freshman season in Tuscaloosa, where Aiden Sherrell put his potential on display with an elite combination of size and shooting ability, the 6-10 big man opted to return for his second year in Crimson and White.

Now, Sherrell feels comfortable and ready to take the next step forward in his sophomore campaign.

"I feel very comfortable, every day we're getting better," Sherrell said to the media during his availability Monday morning about how he feels entering year two at Alabama, "I came back for a reason, for sure. I think this is a place we can reach a lot of goals, and I can achieve a lot of my personal goals."

Sherrell also believes that after a year on campus, he has developed into a much better basketball player. "I'm a way better basketball player, for sure," said Sherrell, "Learning from the system, learning from the new coaches as well. Also, off the court, things like physically and mentally, I feel like I'm a way better player."

In his first season at Alabama, Sherrell averaged 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds a game while playing strong defense. The Detroit, Mich., native had a standout game against Georgia on February 1, dropping 12 points on 3/5 from the field and 2/3 from the perimeter while bringing down seven rebounds.

Sherrell is also taking his experience to help mentor the new big men on campus, including Nigerian Collins Onyejiaka.

"Definitely playing with speed. We have one of the fastest offenses in college basketball. Playing with that speed and creating for others, I've been telling Collins [Onyejiaka] always try to create for your teammates, that can help us out a lot," said Sherrell when asked about how he is taking what he learned last year to help Onyejiaka adjust to Nate Oats' offensive and defensive schemes.

Alabama Men's Basketball begins its season at Coleman Coliseum on November 3 against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
