See UNI & NFL Football Star Kurt Warner’s Iowa State Fair Butter Statue [PHOTOS]
The 2023 Iowa State Fair has begun, and the cooler in the Agriculture Building is filled with four sculptures this year.
It was announced in July that Iowa State Fair butter sculptor Sarah Pratt and her helpers would be creating a statue of the usual butter cow, along with three famous athletes.
Former Iowa State football player Jack Trice and current Iowa women's basketball Caitlin Clark have had butter statues created, as has Kurt Warner.
Warner quarterbacked at Cedar Rapids Regis before going on to the University of Northern Iowa, the Iowa Barnstormers, and finally a Pro Football Hall of Fame career in the NFL.
Warner was a member of the UNI Panthers from 1990 to 1993, and his butter statue remembers that time of his life and football career. At least in part.
Sarah Pratt has been the Iowa State Fair butter sculptor since 2006, is a UNI grad. Sarah's daughters, Grace and Hannah, not only assisted her with the statues, they're both current UNI students.
These photos from the University of Northern Iowa show Kurt Warner's statue under construction, if you will.
Every person who has ever played quarterback is probably thinking, 'It would be impossible to throw a butter football.'
It's amazing how they can sculpt butter. Sarah Pratt notes that even though Warner's UNI uniform is used in the sculpture, they sculpted his face to resemble his years in the NFL.
Below is more on the Pratt family and how they made the sculpture of Kurt Warner.
You can see the butter cow, as well as the sculptures of Jack Trice, Caitlin Clark, and Kurt Warner in the Agriculture Building at the Iowa State Fair. It's open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., through August 20.
