Monticello Wins First Class A Swimming and Diving Title

Monticello pulled off some magic today with their first team MSHSL Class A state by amassing 227 total points.  Visitation was second and defending champion Orono third with 210 and 180 points respectively.

Three Big Nine Conference teams finished in the top thirty.  Mankato East was 22nd with 33 points, Austin 23rd with 31 points, Winona 26 points.

Tri-City United tallied 27 points, good enough for 24th, Northfield was 32nd with 15 points, Mankato West 34th with 14 points Faribault 39th with 6 points and Red Wing had 3 total points.

Falcons diver Makena Gunderson, 7th grade, made All-State Honorable Mention while finishing 11th in 1 Meter Diving.  She accounted for all of Faribault's points.

Gunderson was in 5th place after the first dive and was 14th going into the finals.

In addition to Gunderson finishing 11th in diving, Anna Kapsner, senior, Mankato West was 14th, Kylie Moffett, junior, Red Wing, 15th, and Brittan Hoffman, freshman, Mankato East 16th.

200 Yard Individual Medley, Abby Williams, senior, Winona was 11th, Gracie Greenman, junior, Austin, 12th, and Greta Korteum, junior, Northfield, 16th.

50 Freestyle:  Ella Schmiesing, senior, Tri-City United, 4th.

100 yard Butterfly:  Kamille Andresen, 8th grade, Mankaot East, 9th.

100 Yard Freestyle:  Ella Schmiesing, senior, Tri-City United, 7th, Jordan Woodford, sophomore, Mankato West, 12th.

500 Yard Freestyle:  Mae Bowers, junior, Northfield, 13th.

100 yard Backstroke:  Gracie Greenman, junior, Austin, 3rd place.

100 Yard Breaststroke:  Abby Williams, senior, Winona, 4th, Kamille Andresen, 8th grade, Mankato East, 14th.

200 yard medley relay:  Northfield, Ella Holleran, 12, Mae Bowers, 11, Addie Lloyd, 11, Ella Porter, 12, 12th place.  Mankato East, Emma Born, 12, Camryn Schuh, 11, Kelsey Andresen, 11, Kamille Andresen,
