Hockey Day Minnesota is more than just hockey, it's a celebration of the outdoors in the winter of Minnesota (which yes, includes hockey).

Think outdoor food & drinks, bonfires, skating, live music, vendors (and yes, hockey).

Hockey Day Minnesota is an event put on each year to celebrate the game that made Minnesota 'The State of Hockey.' It got its start back in 2007 by the Minnesota Wild alongside partners like FanDuel Sports Network, Minnesota Hockey, and the local communities that serve as the host each year.

I was lucky enough to live just a block from the venue for Hockey Day Minnesota 2018 in Saint Cloud. It was an absolute blast, I cannot recommend it enough when you get the chance. Being outdoors, weather matters too.

Hockey Day Minnesota usually consists of boys & girls high school matchups, a college matchup or two -- all spread out over two or three days. The final day of the event is a Saturday that culminates with the Minnesota Wild hosting a game at the Xcel Energy Center.
