Our run of warmer than average autumn weather is about to take a turn, with a taste of winter on the way later this week.

In addition to a significant cooldown, a storm system is headed our way that will initially bring rain to the area, before changing to the possibility for snow later in the week as the colder temperatures settle in.

Rain arrives from the south Monday afternoon and lasts into Tuesday. Rain could be heavier at times, especially Monday night. The colder air arrives Tuesday night bringing a chance of light snow through Wednesday.

While it's still more than a week away, Thanksgiving travelers are thinking ahead about the possibility for bad Minnesota roads, and flight delays at MSP.

Good news! The Weather Channel has quiet conditions in the Minnesota forecast from Thanksgiving day through the weekend, with a chance of snow showers on Sunday, December 1st the only precipitation in the forecast. That's a long way down the calendar though, and things can change.
