I'm sure many Notre Dame Irish fans are saying today "Notre Dame finally fired their terrible   Defensive Coordinator Brian VanGorder".

The reason I say that is because that is what all Irish fans have been saying to me for weeks about VanGorder after multiple games where the Irish D was less than successful.

Yesterday seemed to be the final straw as Notre Dame was beaten at home by Duke.

In a release, head coach Brian Kelly said "This is a difficult decision. I have the utmost respect for Brian as both a person and football coach, but our defense simply isn't where it should be and I believe this change is necessary for the best interest of our program and our student-athletes."

Notre Dame is 1-5 in their last 6 games dating back to last season and the defense in the minds of many is the main culprit.

Defensive Analyst Greg Hudson will take over as the defensive coordinator for Notre Dame beginning immediately.
