The Albany boys basketball team is back at the Class 2-A State Tournament for a 3rd straight season with their sights set on winning their 2nd state title in 3 years. Albany is 29-0 and is the #1 seed.
Sauk Centre lost 60-53 to Minnewaska Area in the Class 2-A State Tournament Quarterfinals at Williams Arena Wednesday night. Cierra Kortan led Sauk Centre with 21 points, Maddyn Schuster had 12 points and Victoria Jennissen had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Minnesota's history of girls playing basketball goes all the way back to the early 1900s. Girls starting playing the sport in Minnesota before boys in some locations in the state. Carleton College in Northfield is a location where the sport was first taught.
The South Dakota High School Volleyball State Tournament officially gets underway tomorrow here in Sioux Falls, with all three classes participating in one location at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
