It is finally over. After years of debate and arguments, the University of North Dakota has picked a new nickname.

Voting for a new nickname has come down to Fighting Hawks or Roughriders for the University of North Dakota.

Five nicknames are left in the running for the new nickname for the University of North Dakota.

Justin Holl scored a short-handed goal with 0.6 seconds left to give Minnesota a 2-1 victory over North Dakota on Thursday night in the NCAA hockey semifinals.

The University of North Dakota and the University of Minnesota will renew their storied hockey rivalry in three years.

Minnesota’s Rachael Bona scored with 1:09 left in the third overtime to give the Golden Gophers a 3-2 win over North Dakota in the NCAA women’s hockey quarterfinals. Saturday’s win extended Minnesota’s winning streak to an NCAA-record 47 games.
