Twins Top Prospects Show Promise

Twins outfielder Aaron Hicks has been designated for the 15-day disabled list with a strained hamstring. Hicks' batting line isn't the greatest, but Hicks is still learning how to play everyday in the Majors and how to hit against Major League pitchers. Hicks is hitting .179/.249/.326 with six home runs and 19 RBIs.

The Twins will call up Oswaldo Arcia to fill Hicks place on the 25-man roster. Arcia was with the Twins earlier this season in 2013, and hit four home runs while batting .255 in 30 games. At Triple-A Rochester, Arcia hit .284 with six home runs in 24 games.

Meanwhile, the Twins farm system continues to show promise as their top prospects are making strides. Here are three prospects that are off to solid starts to the 2013 regular season:

Byron Buxton is one of the Twins' brightest prospects is playing for Class A Cedar Rapids, and is having a phenomenal start to the 2013 season. Buxton is batting .341 with 41 RBIs so far in 2013. In a game last Wednesday, Buxton went 5-for-6 with a double and two triples.

Another top prospect in the Twins farm system is former first round draft pick and pitcher Kyle Gibson. Gibson is 5-5 for Triple-A Rochester and has made 12 starts while pitching 72 2/3 innings pitched. He's struck out 63 and has a 3.34 ERA.

Lastly, third baseman Miguel Sano is playing for Class A Fort Meyers and batting .327 with 14 home runs and 45 RBIs in 55 games in 2013.
