Katie Ledecky Denied Entry into Own Local Swimming Club
Five Olympic gold medals and a few world records are still not good enough to get Katie Ledecky access to her local swimming club.
The Daily Mail reports that the Little Falls Swimming Club in Bethesda, Maryland won't allow Ledecky access into the club due to membership caps. The club only allows 377 families to be involved in the club and her family has to wait.
How long of a wait?
Apparently her family has been on the waiting list for about 15 years, or for about four years less than the entire time that Katie has been alive. The process involves a formula that bases chances on how far away a family lives from the pool along with other factors.
But still - wouldn't you give a special pass? Not this club. Ledecky says she will take a quick break from swimming and get ready for her upcoming season at Stanford.
