Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty will not run in the Preakness Stakes, officials announced Tuesday, ending any chance at a Triple Crown for a seventh consecutive year.

Medina Spirit is now one step closer to becoming the second Kentucky Derby winner in the 147-year history of the race to be disqualified.

Twenty-one horses have been entered for Saturday's Kentucky Derby, one more than the maximum field of 20.
