Everyone expects the big one to happen at Talladega Superspeedway. For some reason, it never occurred Sunday. Oh sure, there was a wreck on the final lap, which allowed Jamie McMurray to coast to the victory under caution.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jeff Gordon left some points on the table in the first two Chase races. Both had strong runs at Dover.

Jimmie Johnson held off a teammate, passed a pair of Hall of Famers, and dominated once more at Dover.

Joey Logano held off Sam Hornish Jr. to win the NASCAR Nationwide race at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday, leading a sweep of top two spots for Roger Penske after the owner asked Logano to drive the No. 22 car on a rare weekend off for the Sprint Cup series.

Greg Biffle gave Ford it's 1000th NASCAR victory -- right down the road from company headquarters. Biffle raced to his second straight Sprint Cup win at Michigan International Speedway, easily holding off Kevin Harvick after points leader Jimmie Johnson smacked the wall in the final laps Sunday.

Jimmie Johnson absolutely dominated Sunday at Pocono Raceway for his third victory of the season. The Sprint Cup points leader, Johnson pulled away on both of the last two restarts over the final 10 laps to pull into Victory Lane at Pocono for the first time since he swept both races in 2004.

Regan Smith thought he'd won at Talladega before, only to have a NASCAR ruling go against him. So there was no rush to celebrate Saturday night as Smith waited for NASCAR to review videotape and scoring loops to determine the winner of the crash-filled Nationwide Series race. He thought he was out front when the final caution flew, but experience taught Smith to stay calm.

At Martinsville Speedway the race winner at NASCAR’s highest level has received a grandfather clock. Jimmie Johnson now has 8 of those timepieces after blowing away the field in Sunday’s STP Gas Booster 500.

NASCAR spent almost the entire year developing its 2013 car in hopes the "Gen 6" model will dramatically improve the racing. After his first test drive Tuesday, NASCAR's most popular driver approved of the car.
