Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien each made decisive closing statements in their competition to back up Green Bay starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Matt Cassel made a winning return to Arrowhead Stadium, even if it was just a preseason game. The quarterback who was booed, benched and eventually released two years ago by the Chiefs, threw for 152 yards and a touchdown Saturday night, leading the Minnesota Vikings to a 30-12 win over Kansas City.

Skip the rest of the preseason. The Green Bay Packers offense seems ready for some real games. With a stable of running backs now complementing quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers could be as potent as ever this year.

Matt Cassel was polished. Teddy Bridgewater was poised. The Minnesota Vikings have yet to pick a starting quarterback, but their passing game has sure been productive in the preseason.

All of those months of injury rehab paid off for Sam Bradford, who showed no signs of a season-ending knee injury last November. Aaron Rodgers looked pretty polished, too.

Jackie Battle scored on a 7-yard touchdown run with 5:02 left, and the Titans rallied to beat the Green Bay Packers 20-16 Saturday night in Ken Whisenhunt's coaching debut in Tennessee.

Matt Cassel was crisp from the start, giving Teddy Bridgewater a model touchdown drive to watch. Bridgewater showed his age, aside from a few flashes of brilliance, and that's the early snapshot of the Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback competition.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced their 2014 preseason schedule, and Sioux Falls is not included. Last season, the Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks met at the Sanford Pentagon.

Josh Smith made a 3-pointer as time expired and finished with 20 points to lift the Detroit Pistons to a 99-98 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night in both teams' exhibition finale.

J.J. Barea scored 22 points, Kevin Love added 19 and the Minnesota Timberwolves cruised past the Philadelphia 76ers 125-102 in a preseason game Wednesday night.
