5-Year-Old Hartford Girl Drowns in Lake Thompson, Two Other Drownings Reported
DE SMET, S.D. — It was a tragic weekend in the waterways in and around South Dakota as three people drowned in separate incidents.
Kingsbury County Sheriff Kevin Scotting says a 5-year-old girl fell off a dock on Saturday night in Lake Thompson. She is identified as Presley Nielsen who was there for a family reunion. Authorities say no one else was injured.
In addition, a 23-year-old woman died in the Missouri River near Running Water in Bon Homme County and another woman drowned in Rapid Creek near Rapid City. No additional details are available.
