I don't think it is overstating the fact that we've had some wacky winter weather so far this year. And today is no exception. We have a high wind warning for the day until 6 PM.

Due to those high winds, Great Bear Ski Valley will be closed today, Thursday, December 18.

Despite that, Great Bear is looking forward to having a great holiday break. The Kirby Family Tubing Park opens for the season tomorrow, Friday, December 19. And, Great Bear has now opened one hundred percent of their downhill ski trails.

They've had several weeks of great snowmaking, and they now have plenty of snow for skiing and tubing all winter long. Extended hours for the holiday break start this weekend and extend through January 4, 2026.

Here is Great Bear's holiday schedule:

  • December 20th through December 23rd: 9 AM to 9 PM
  • Christmas Eve: 9 AM to 2 PM
  • Christmas: Closed
  • December 26th: 9 AM to 10 PM
  • December 27th through December 30th: 9 AM to 9 PM
  • New Year's Eve: 9 AM to 11:30 PM (Special rates at 5:00 PM, fireworks display at midnight.
  • New Year's Day: 9 AM to 9 PM
  • January 2: 9 AM to 10 PM

Great Bear also offers an early open on Saturdays at 8 AM for season passholders.
