Thanksgiving Travel Weather: Don’t End Up Like These 2 Guys
The Thanksgiving forecast is sort of a mixed bag. The National Weather Service of Sioux Falls is not ruling out the possibilities a some scattered flurries over the long holiday weekend as a system is brewing up in the Rockies late this week.
In fact, the Sioux Falls forecast as of Tuesday morning doesn't look too bad:
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 56. Breezy conditions.
Thanksgiving Day: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. North winds with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 33.
However, The Weather Channel says that there's a chance of a mixed bag of precipitation for the upper Midwest.
If you're traveling to the east, you may be heading into airport delays or slower traffic by road due to snow, icy conditions, and high winds.
With 55 million people planning to travel this Thanksgiving - 30 million of those travelers by air - plans may be disrupted by storms the further east you go. Severe thunderstorms are possible on the eastern seaboard with heavy rains and high winds.
Delayed layovers in Chicago and Minneapolis are possible when high winds and rain are in play.
So happy Thanksgiving and safe travels. And remember, you could end up hitchin' a ride from Gus' son in Wichita, like Del and Neil from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
If you get a chance, use these famous lines from the iconic 1987 film:
“Please. Have mercy. I’ve been wearing the same underwear since Tuesday.”
"Six bucks and my right nut says we're not landing in Chicago."
"Those aren't pillows!"
