Bama in the NFL: Week Three Outlook
Week three of the 2025 NFL season starts with a great matchup when the Dolphins go to Buffalo to face the Bills. There are plenty of other great games this weekend too, so lets break down the former Bama players set to make impacts.
Dolphins at Bills - Thu. Sept 18, (7:15 p.m. ct):
Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) - Coming off a good outing but a tough loss against another divisional rival in the Patriots, Tagovailoa looks to get his first win against an elite team in the Bills. If the Dolphins can run the ball and play better defense, they could squeeze out a win for sure. If Hill is back to form, then that makes this game all the more intriguing, and would be a great way to reset their start of the season after starting 0-2.
Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) - Coming off a great game last week, Waddle should be able to take advantage of a secondary that let Zay Flowers (Ravens) fly all over the field. This is definitely a Thursday night game set to be a great divisional matchup. These two always seem to have it go to the wire; barring another injury to Tagovailoa.
Packers at Browns - Sun. Sept. 21, (Noon ct):
Josh Jacobs (Packers) - A great start to the season for Jacobs as he has found the end-zone in two straight games now. He has been a consistent and efficient part of this offense since his arrival in Green Bay. But with the way that Cleveland was able to stuff the run against the best rushing attack in the Ravens last week, he may be in for a tough night on the ground. He might be able to get it going catching balls out of the backfield though.
Jerry Jeudy (Browns) - Jeudy has been a consistent pass catcher for this offense. He has been targeted the most out of any receiver on this team, but has still yet to find the end-zone. That should be able to change this weekend if the Browns can hold off Micah Parsons, but no one can really do that.
Lions at Ravens - Mon. Sept. 22 (7:15 p.m. ct):
Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions) - Clearly the focal point of how this offense gets going. Coming off of a great game last week in which this offense scored 52, they should be able to continue that momentum, even against this defense. Remember the Bills two weeks ago score over 40 on them, and a lot of that had to do with James Cook (Buffalo's RB). Gibbs should be able to make the most of his carries and catches out of the backfield.
Jameson Williams (Lions) - Coming off a game in which he averaged 54 yards a catch, Williams should have an opportunity or two to blow the lid off the top. This offense has a lot to manage from a defensive standpoint. So it's pick your poison for the Baltimore defense.
Derrick Henry (Ravens) - Coming off a tough game from Henry's standards, he should be able to get going in this one at home. This Lions defense has been susceptible on the ground so far, and Henrys last MNF appearance was quite the show. So expect him to have a decent to great night.
Notable players to watch:
Bryce Young (Panthers) - Coming off a close game against the Cardinals last week, Young played a lot better than week one. This is a divisional game so it aims to be a close matchup with how well these two teams know each other. Young has also had probably the most success agains the Falcons. So look for him to have a good game at home this week.
Will Reichard (Vikings) - A great game on Monday night football last week where it was a game all about field goals. He has been a great kicker since his arrival in the league last year. With a tough matchup for this offense against the Bengals, he should have another game to showcase his leg.
That does it for the week three outlook! Check back Tuesday for the recap!
