TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Crimson Tide falls at home for the first time under head coach Kalen DeBoer to the Oklahoma Sooners, 23-21, during the Crimson Tide's homecoming game.

Alabama outplayed the Sooners in almost every facet of the game:
Alabama outgained Oklahoma 406-212
Alabama had more rushing yards (80-74)
Alabama had more passing yards (326-138)
Alabama was better on Third Down (5-13 for Alabama, 3-13 for Oklahoma)
Alabama controlled the time of possession (34:28, 25:32)
The one area where Alabama did not outplay Oklahoma was the turnover battle. Oklahoma recovered three turnovers from Alabama: a pick-six by Eli Bowen, a sack-fumble forced by Taylor Wein, recovered by Kendal Daniels, and a fumble by Ryan Williams on a punt return, recovered by Jayden Hardy. Add the turnover issues to Alabama missing a field goal just before halftime, and it's evident that the Crimson Tide's self-inflicted errors were the downfall of Alabama on Saturday evening.
The loss muddies what was becoming a good season for the Crimson Tide, with Alabama falling to 8-2 and 6-1 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide will learn its fate in the playoff standings on Tuesday night, when the CFP committee reveals its rankings with three weeks until selection Sunday. The Crimson Tide still has a chance to clinch a playoff spot if it can make the SEC championship, which is still possible. Oklahoma was Alabama's first loss in SEC play.
