Off the Tee: Memorial Recap, U.S. Open Preview, Hank Haney’s Controversial Comments
Up until this season, The Memorial was a bright spot in the midst of a wasteland on golf's calendar with The Masters a distant memory and the U.S. Open still two weeks away.
But with the changes to golf's schedule in 2019, the Jack Nicklaus hosted event in Ohio came at a much more exciting time, just three weeks after Brooks Keopka's PGA Championship win and the U.S. Open awaiting at Pebble Beach next week.
At The Memorial, it was Partick Cantlay, who has been knocking on the door lately at several of golf's big events, rallying from two strokes down heading into the final day to win by two over Adam Scott.
In this edition of 'Off The Tee', Joel Harrington from 4 Deep Golf blog and I discuss Cantlay's performance in Ohio, plus encouraging play from both Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth.
We also look ahead to the 119th U.S. Open, which will be played June 13-16 at Pebble Beach in California. This will be the sixth time the iconic course has hosted the U.S. Open.
Koepka, the back-to-back defending champ, is the big favorite. He's captured three of golf's last five majors.
Off the course, legendary swing coach Hank Haney has come under fire for some controversial comments about Korean dominance on the LPGA Tour.
Were the content of his comments wrong or was it the way there were presented that was the problem?
Here's my conversation with Joel:
