Sioux Falls Police Make Arrests in Human Trafficking Case
Sioux Falls, South Dakota: On August 17, 2015 the Sioux Falls Police Department Street Crimes Unit found an internet advertisement that appeared to be related to prostitution. They began an undercover operation to arrange a transaction with two females associated with the advertisement. The women agreed to meet the undercover officers to perform sex acts for money and were detained at a location in Sioux Falls. At this time our Street Crimes Officers discovered that the two women were being trafficked by two Sioux Falls residents.
Detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Section and personnel from our Crime Lab joined in the investigation. A warrant was written for a residence at 730 N. Terrace Place and the Sioux Falls Police SWAT Team was used to execute the warrant. During the search the following items were found:
-Various documentation of Prostitution activities
-8.3 Grams of Cocaine
-7 Grams of Marijuana
-A plastic bag with Methamphetamine residue
Based on the investigation the following people were lodged at the Minnehaha County Jail:
Jerrid Lee Morris 25 YOA of Sioux Falls for 1st Degree Human Trafficking and Maintaining a Place Where Drugs are Kept or Sold
Duwanda Annette Smiley 32 YOA of Sioux Falls for 1st Degree Human Trafficking and Maintaining a Place Where Drugs are Kept or Sold
Ycenia Delores Brown 28 YOA of Sioux Falls for Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Violation of a Drug Free Zone and Possession or Use Drug Paraphernalia
Shaves Lee Brown 24 YOA of Sioux Falls for Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Violation of a Drug Free Zone, Inhabiting a Room Knowing Drugs are Kept or Used There and Possession or Use Drug Paraphernalia
