The new policy aims to combat waste and pollution issues by reducing the amount of plastic bags given out and encouraging customers to use reusable bags in their place.

With nearly 5,000 stores nationwide, Walmart recently announced the closing of some 'underperforming' locations that will occur in the coming weeks.
