These days, Iowa and basketball is a dangerous combo.

The entire Hawkeye State has been cheering on Caitlin Clark as her global popularity rises. Another notable Iowa alum, Kate Martin was drafter to the 2 time WNBA championship winning team the Las Vegas Aces this year.

So, obviously this year Iowans are paying even more attention to hoops.

Meet Klint Carlson

However, this time we're showing some love to a University of Northern Iowa alum.

Klint Carlson, a Waverly, Iowa native made some big waves on the UNI basketball team when he was a student. The baller was a part of the Panthers team for four seasons (2014-2018) under head coach Ben Jacobson, according to college officials.

During his freshman year Carlson contributed to a program-record 31-win season, AND assisted the team in getting two Missouri Valley Conference Tournament  championships.

Carlson participated in two NCAA tournaments and averaged 7.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 114 career games.

Not too shabby!

After graduating he went on to play in the Czech Republic for two seasons.

In 2020, he made a bit of a career shift. He went from playing on the court to creating content for teams and coaching.

Klint Carlson worked for the NBA's Charlotte Hornets for a few years. He started off as a video intern in 2020 and then moved his way up to assistant video coordinator.

Two years ago, he moved on to the Golden State Warriors as a player development coach and video coordinator, according to the official UNI website.

Coincidentally, the head coach of the Warriors (Steve Kerr) is coaching America's men's Olympic five-on-five team.

Notable players on the team include Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Lebron James.

And Carlson is heading to Paris right along with them!

He won't be playing for the team, but he will be the official video coordinator for the United States men's five-on-five team.

Congratulations on such a major accomplishment!
