Going to a Vikings game isn't cheap. Tickets are expensive, and once you add parking, food, and drinks, it all adds up quickly. But next time you're complaining about the prices in Minnesota, just remember other fans have it much worse.

Vikings Tailgating Tradition That Changed

Before U.S. Bank Stadium was built, the Vikings had a very active tailgating scene around the Metrodome. There were plenty of inexpensive and large parking lots for fans to grill, drink, and enjoy the pre-game excitement together.

Today, very few places allow pre-game tailgating. Many of the lots that were once popular are now home to parking ramps and luxury condos. A few options remain, but they will cost you. Oddspedia recently broke down the cost of tailgating at every NFL stadium, and Vikings fans are actually getting a bargain.

Who has it the worst? That would be SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers. A total tailgating cost of $301 includes $141 for food and a whopping $160 just for parking.

At the other end of the spectrum, Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, offers the cheapest experience. The total is $147, which covers food and drinks. Parking is free, though it comes with a 15-minute walk to the stadium. Still, you can’t beat free.

Vikings Tailgating in 2025

As for your Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium ranks 22nd. The total cost to tailgate is $191, with $50 for parking and $141 for food and drinks. That’s not bad for a group of four. The real challenge is finding a spot, since tailgating space has become much harder to come by in 2025.
