Chris took time to admit that last week "did not go very well" for the Minnesota native. This time, he had help from legendary rock and roll power couple Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. They took time to mentor Chris and the other Top 11 finalists of American Idol.

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo both said he's doing something right if he's this far into the competition! They also loved that Chris was challenging himself this week.

"Chris is a great guy. Very cool voice. One of the most inexperienced sort of speak, right?...Chris' last performance wasn't up to where he wanted it to be. So this one is really important."

Chris Tungseth took on the 1977 hit song "Cold As Ice" by Foreigner. Was his performance "cold as ice?"

This performance was full of power and judges took notice, like Carrie Underwood.

This was a fantastic song choice for you. I love the energy you came out with. I feel like this is one of my favorite performances that you have done if not the favorite performance you have done.

Luke Bryan was also a big fan of the wind in Chris Tungseth's flowing hair.
