Sioux Falls Dog Finds New Home After Waiting Almost 100 Days
After watching other dogs find new homes and getting overlooked, a South Dakota dog finally has a new Sioux Empire home to call her own.
A sweet dog named Bessie has been patiently waiting at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society for her second chance. Finally, Bessie's dreams are coming true!

This precious girl has been waiting for her "fur-ever" home for 76 days. However, the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society was not the first shelter for Bessie. In a heartwarming Facebook post, staff from the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society tell Bessie's story. It wasn't easy for her. She came from a previous shelter before she came to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
Why Was This South Dakota Dog In Shelters For So Long?
Bessie is the best friend anyone could have. Some at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society think her forever home took a bit longer because she does not get along with every dog she meets sometimes.
I’m a good girl, I just have one flaw that no one seems willing to look past: I don’t love every dog. I like some dogs, just not all of them. That’s it. That’s the reason I’m still here. But people? People are my whole world. When I see you, My tail starts wagging, my face lights up, my heart lifts, Maybe you will be the one who finally sees me.
When staff at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society were sharing Bessie's journey in a Facebook post, she got adopted in that exact moment.
Yay!!! So happy for sweet Bessie!!
Woohoo! Happy ever after good girl!
HAPPY! HAPPY! HAPPY! Way to go girl!
Hooray for Bessie and the staff of Sioux Falls Area Humane Society for another great adoption story!
