Tourists Vote Minnesota as the Friendliest State in the U.S.

As it turns out, Minnesota Nice is a real thing.

World Population Review recently released its list of the Friendliest States in the U.S. for Tourists and the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes took home the gold medal as the best of the bunch.

The two main factors World Population Review used to determine the friendliest states were personal experience and the average amount tourists tip in each state. Minnesota scored highest on both, placing it at the very top of the list.

The term “Minnesota nice” lives up to its name. Minnesota residents are known for being extra polite, even during the state’s cold, bitter winters. The Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, are popular tourist destinations known for their residents who go the extra mile to welcome visitors.

As for neighboring states, Iowa ranked 29, South Dakota ranked 20, Wisconsin came in at 26 and North Dakota was placed right in the middle at number 25.
