It was so hot at Phoenix for Sunday's NASCAR race, drivers were getting ice and water at pit stops. And the 96 degree temperature took it's toll on tires.

Ryan Newman gambled on worn rubber and won. The final caution came out with two laps remaining, and he stayed out on old tires.

What can we say about Kyle Larson? The kid again comes in second, his third consecutive second place finish.

And then there's Kyle Busch back from last week's post race bloody face brawl. He was set to win this week's race, until his sparring partner from last Sunday, Joey Logano, blew a tire and forced the final restart. Busch came home a respectable third, this time racing across the finish line and not sliding sideways out of control.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was fourth and and Brad Keselowski with a second straight fifth place finish in the number 2 Ford. Take a look at where your driver was.

The man that came into the weekend as the guy to beat, was most impressive after qualifying badly. And that was Kevin Harvick. He had dominated Phoenix winning six of the the last nine.

But he only earned the 23rd starting position. But as I said, impressive, he stormed to sixth.

Eight different drivers led the race. Matt Kenseth suffered a crash when he had a front tire go down that sent him hard into the outside barrier resulting in extensive damage knocking him out of contention.

Next up, Sunday at Southern California. The Auto Club 400.
