If getting drafted was the first goal for Tyler Starr post college, his second was to secure a 53 man roster spot with the Atlanta Falcons. After a few weeks of training camp, and four preseason games, Starr will enter the season on the squad.

Starr was drafted in the 7th round this past May. The Falcons are the team featured this season on HBO's Hard Knock Series. In the first episode, Starr was featured and was being noted as a rookie to watch that attempts to make the team. By the third week of the show, there was not much shown on Starr.

The impression did not look positive from the outside, but something was brewing from within. On the second and third episodes, Starr can be seen in the Special Teams meeting rooms and meeting with coaches. He clearly looked like he wanted to do whatever he could to help.

That, from the show alone, appears to have paid off. The Falcons cut down to 53 on Saturday, and Starr outlasted linebackers Yawin Smallwood, and Pat Angerer. Starr tallied four tackles in the final preseason game for the Falcons.

The Falcons open their season next Sunday against the Saints.
