Brian Dozier Will Be a Part of the All-Star Festivities at Target Field

Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier will be at Target Field for the All-Star festivities after all. 

Dozier was selected to be on the American League's home run derby team next Monday night in Minneapolis. Justin Morneau was the last Twins' player to win the Derby in 2008. Morneau, of course, is still trying to get into the All-Star game via the final vote. Earlier in the week, Troy Tulowitzki, Morneau's teammate in Colorado, said he was considering adding the former Twins star first baseman into the Derby.

For Dozier, he gets to show off his impressive power he's displayed in the first half of the season. He's hit 16 home runs on the season for the Twins. The Twins second baseman is also hitting .235 with 14 doubles and 15 stolen bases. At this pace, Dozier has a chance for a 30-30 season. He was left off the American League All-Star roster, as Seattle's Robinson Cano and Houston's Jose Altuve made the team, instead.

Dozier joins defending champ Yoenis Cespedes, Adam Jones, and Jose Bautista on the American League squad. On the National League team, Yasiel Puig, Gincario Stanton, and Todd Frazier are joining Tulowitzki.

Glen Perkins and Kurt Suzuki will represent the Twins in the All-Star game on Tuesday night.
