Nick Saban's first season as a college football analyst was, by most metrics, a huge success. Saban showcased his decades of learning from his days as a coach, and as long as ESPN doesn't mind the occasional FCC fine, fans love him on College Gameday predicting games.

Saban got his first taste of game prediction last summer, nailing his SEC Championship game of Georgia and Texas. Saban was asked again by reporters on Tuesday during a Nick's Kids Luncheon at Bryant-Denny Stadium, who does he think can win the SEC for the 2025 season?

"I think Texas is one of the teams that obviously is really, really good this year," he told reporters. "I think LSU has got a shot to be really good. I think Florida's got a shot to be really good. I think Alabama and Georgia both have a shot to be really good. So I think there's a lot of sort of top-end good teams."

Alabama was voted third in the preseason SEC media poll last month, and the coaches' poll ranks the Tide No. 8 to start the season.

Saban also said the strength of the SEC could work against the SEC when it comes time to determine the playoff picture.

"

"It gets to be a little bit of a disadvantage, because you get penalized for losses more in college football than you [get rewarded] for strength of schedule," he added, "which was unfortunate for Alabama last year in terms of getting in the playoffs. But hopefully we'll get that fixed and work together to try to do it in the future, so that strength of schedule becomes an important part of how you get selected to get the playoffs.
