Off The Tee: 2017 FedEx Cup Playoff Update
Justin Thomas is quietly putting together a season that could see him win a major, capture the FedEx Cup, and secure player of the year honors on the PGA Tour.
His fifth victory of the 2017 season came this week at the Dell Technologies Championship, which is the 2nd leg of FedEx Playoffs.
In this edition of 'Off The Tee', I asked Joel Harrington from 4 Deep Golf about Thomas' amazing year and what lies ahead for this 24-year old.
Joel and I also discuss:
- Back-to-back near misses for Jordan Spieth in the first two playoff events. But he still holds a 27-point lead over Thomas in the playoff standings.
- The third leg of the FedEx Cup playoff, the BMW Championship, is next week (September 14-17) at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois.
- Rory McIlroy is having a thoroughly forgettable 2017. He's now 51st in the FedEx Cup standings after missing the cut in Boston. It's his lowest ranking on thee years.
- The top ten roster spots have been filled for the 2017 Presidents Cup at Liberty City Golf Course in Jersey City, New Jersey, September 26 thru October 1. The Captain's picks are Wednesday (September 6).
- There are a lot of rumors floating around about some potential changes coming to the PGA Tour schedule in 2019.
