Iowa football is paused right now just like the rest of the college football world due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That said, Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa Hawkeyes are still working virtually to try to put together another successful season in 2020.

In 2019, the Hawkeyes completed the season with a 10-3 overall record and trounced the USC Trojans in the Holiday Bowl.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz joined Overtime to discuss the current state of the program, expectations for 2020, and all things Iowa football.

Take a listen and enjoy.

As you could tell when he discussed the upcoming season, that Coach Ferentz is certainly aware of the concerns of many and is very sensitive to the ideas of how college football can be wove into the current environment.

That humanity from Kirk has always been something that has impressed me and at its core, I think has helped build the program into what it is today in Iowa City.

In addition to the conversation about the upcoming season, it is clear that Iowa puts an emphasis on developing their players at a better efficiency than other programs considering the hurdles they have to jump over vs that of other Big 10 programs.

That commitment has helped them develop a lot of NFL talent including the 2020 first-round pick of the Buccaneers in Tristian Wirfs.

Iowa clearly isn't going to turn into Alabama or Ohio State, but one thing is clear, Iowa has a heck of a football program and it all starts with their head coach Kirk Ferentz.
