For a number of years, Costco officials have hinted that membership prices could go up. It's been six years since a membership price increase for the convenient warehouse. Recently, the CFO of Costco has hinted that this will change sooner than Costco shoppers might think.

In a recent article with The Hill, "Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti reiterated that a price hike for its Gold Star membership will happen, but said, 'It’s a question of when not if.' ” Costco has been informing its loyal customers about this membership hike since early 2022. The membership fee was last raised in June 2017.

So why hasn't Costco raised its membership fees? What's taking them so long to make this decision? The overall blame for not increasing the price right now is due to rising inflation. There still has yet to be a date announced for the upcoming price increase.
