ARE TICKS HERE TO STAY FOR THE SEASON?

If you were thinking that it might be good to check you and your dogs for ticks if you've been out and about for long walks in the woods already, you've made the right decision.

We aren't the only ones who are enjoying the warmer weather. The warm temps have signaled to ticks that it's time to emerge when they normally wouldn't typically come back to life until about May.

Yet here we are, and that means you need to be cautious when you are going outside.

TICKS HAVE BEEN SPOTTED

An article from February 7th, 2024 from KARE 11, said that a deer tick was already discovered way back then, and although it is unusual, you should probably expect that they won't be going away any time soon.

Hopefully, you treat your pets year-round for fleas and ticks, but if not, now is the time to get them protected.

HIBERNATION

Ticks can go back into hibernation if temperatures dip below freezing, but it doesn't mean they are going away. It could mean that they are going to be MORE of a problem, once mild temps return.

WHAT ABOUT THE SKEETERS?

Regardomg mosquitos? Well, we could be in luck! Because the precipitation hasn't been where it normally is, it may affect ponds and wetlands.

All of that could change, however. If we end up getting a big snowstorm before spring arrives, they still might come out in droves when their ready.
