CLOSING: Popular Store Shuttering 95 Locations Including One in Minnesota

Going to the mall when I was a kid was so much fun.  Claire's had thousands of earrings, that were all just amazing.  Maurice's was the place my friends all go their jeans and really cool sweaters.  Orange Julius was a fave for most of us, except me.  I could NOT stand the taste of those and always just asked for an orange.  We can't forget Abercrombie & Fitch.  You didn't even need to go in that store to get doused with their cologne.  It was so strong even outside of the doors!

Unfortunately, one store that my friends and I loved to browse announced recently that it is having a bit of a financial situation and will be closing 95 stores.

EXPRESS Announces It Is Filing For Bankruptcy and Closing 95 Stores

"Back in the day", EXPRESS wasn't a store that had clothes for "me".  My friends were all in sizes that still had one digit on the label.  And then there was me.  I was a head taller than all of my friends and that single-digit stuff isn't even a memory for what I've ever worn.  My family also ate cans of food that didn't have labels on them, it was a surprise most nights what we would be eating, so the price tags for the clothes at EXPRESS were way out of my "hand me down only" affordability.  That's why I said I browsed the store when I was a kid.  Nothing in my size and nothing I could afford.

Sadly, change is in the works for that well-known chain.  According to Fox Business, EXPRESS submitted a petition on Monday, April 22nd, 2024, for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

List of Locations EXPRESS Stores Will Be Closing

The plan moving forward is "business as usual" in store and online for all of the brands represented, according to the statement in the Fox Business story.  However, work will be taking place to "right-size its lease portfolio and operations" and with that entails store closures.
